President of the Republic of Sierra Leone

His Excellency Brigadier (Retired) Dr. Julius Maada Bio is the democratically elected President of the Republic of Sierra Leone. He assumed office in May 2018 following a successful democratic transition and has since led a reform-oriented agenda focused on human capital development, good governance, economic diversification, and national cohesion.

President Bio previously served as Head of State from 1996 to 1997, during which he facilitated Sierra Leone’s return to constitutional democracy. On the international stage, he is a strong advocate for multilateral cooperation, investment promotion, and strategic partnerships that drive sustainable and inclusive growth.

Under his leadership, Sierra Leone remains committed to strengthening bilateral relations, including with the State of Qatar, and welcomes collaboration in areas such as investment, agriculture, energy, tourism, infrastructure, and human capital development.
